Not long after the introduction of the waterbed, Jeff Merrill got the bright idea of starting his own business. He decided that not only was he going to sell them in his newly opened retail store, but that he was going to make them. In 1978, Jeff opened his retail store in New Albany, Indiana, called “Waterbeds Unlimited” and alongside his retail store he opened up a small wood manufacturing facility called “Merrill Manufacturing.” As word spread and business grew, Merrill Manufacturing was forced to find a larger, more adequate plant, and relocated to Scottsburg, Indiana into a 27,000 square foot facility. With the shift inn the economy, changes in business marketing along with popularity of the Internet, Merrill Manufacturing has decided to open its own web store, “The Waterbed Factory,” designed to meet all waterbed consumer’s every need; all while focusing on quality with unbeatable pricing.
